PROTOTYPE AND BACKGROUND INFO:
Southern Pacific Chair car classes 77-C-1 and 77-C-3 wereconstructed in 1937 by Pullman Standard. The cars wereoriginally painted red, orange, and black, and assigned tothe Coast Daylight. Later, the cars were repainted and usedin different trains, such as the Lark and Golden State. Somecars recieved Southern Pacific’s general service scheme ofsilver with a red band. These cars could be found in generalpassenger service until the advent of Amtrak.
